About

What up?!? So I guess this is where you find out who I am. That’s a great question my wife and I often ask ourselves. I think I’m now 25 or something  like that. I live in Park City, Utah, and seem to have a natural attraction to a number of things: deadly brain cancer, bible study, snowboarding, music, worship leading, health research, skateboarding, and sharing the peace I’ve found through accepting a Saviour.

My life totally changed (for the better so far…) in May of 2007 when I started having these weird “mental interruptions.” I can’t really describe these episodes other than feeling like everything kind of lost its meaning and there was no purpose anymore. Very scary. Almost like a panic attack, I would have this “feeling” hit me like a ton of bricks, and I would just sit down for 30-45 seconds till it went away. Turned out to be simple partial seizures, but I didn’t find this out till I got a CT scan revealing a 5 cm tumor in the right frontal lobe of my brain. At 21 years old, I didn’t even know what a tumor was.I certainly didn’t know what glioblastoma multiforme was when my surgeon came into my recovery room a few months later.

I had surgery at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA in July of 2007, and followed it up by 6 weeks of chemo (Temodar-150 mgs/daily) concurrent with radiation. I did half a year of rotating Temodar the next year, but had to stop when my blood counts hit the floor and I had to go to work, as I was finishing my senior year as a business marketing major. I had around 4 or 5 things happen to me during these events that I cannot explain as anything other than “miracles” that God had worked to show me His presence. My priorities in life totally changed as did my outlook on Christianity.

I was tumor-free for the next 2.5 years, as my wife and I enjoyed living in Las Vegas NV, Park City Utah, Lahaina Maui, and Branson MO due to my sales/marketing work in the timeshare industry.

In January of this year I had another siezure while snowboarding at Park City Mountain Resort. My head and eyes started to twitch uncontrollably for about 4 minutes. I had around 5 more seizures until March 24, when I had my second surgery in Las Vegas, NV. This delay was due to inaccurate PET scans, and different opinions from specialists regarding my MRIs. My tumor grew back to the same size in 2.5 months, so I had surgery again on July 3rd in Vegas. My neurosurgeon put in gliadel wafers, and I started on Avastin a month later. I am currently working on my health full-time through juicing fruits and vegetables for my diet,  working with a naturopathic cancer specialist, taking a myriad of supplements, homeopathic remedies, teas, exercise, coffee enemas, and doing various herbal cleanses.

I am blessed to have a very supportive wife, family, and church, whose prayers and support have kept me going.  I’ve learned a lot about life, cancer/health, and the bible in this last year, and I can only thank my God and Saviour for keeping me alive thus far. Every day is a gift that so many of us take for granted!

I’m well aware that my posts are a bit wacky and sometimes slightly messed up as I tend to make fun of cancer or other people at times. Sorry about this, but I try to keep my posts entertaining as I believe we all should enjoy life, whatever our situation. For myself personally, having the bible and a relationship with Jesus Christ mixed in with my life and culture is a great part of that enjoyment.

    • Jessica,

You are so unbelievably kind and such a great friend to Logan and myself. I know that God is using you specifically for being a light unto the world. You always have nice things to say on facebook, and you reference your obvious relationship with God more often than anyone else we know…This form of social media ministry is possibly the newest and most effective form of ministry out there. It is a simple principle that Ellen White talked about years ago – a solid christian’s example and testimony is more powerful than any other sort of sermon or witness! Keep up the great work, and use your talents in specific areas of ministry to plant seeds, light fires, and bring your friends to a better life experience that directly translates into a longer-lasting, eternal life!

  4. Daniel,
Thanks for sharing your story and your road…
I can’t begin to imagine your frustration and contempt for what’s happening to your body. To share those things is a blessing to those of us who get to read it.
May God comfort you and your family and continue to shed light on His Glory for what’s happening!
If you’re ever in Portland, OR, I’d love to take you to a meal and talk about Jesus and your life!
    In Him,
    Erik

    Daniel,
thank you so much for sharing your blessings in the Lord. Yes, God is so merciful. I just talked with my son kyle, and he told me about you.. It is so amazing that God has put you two in each others path… Kyle, is a beautiful christian and he loves the Lord with all his heart. and He shares the Lord with everybody. Kyle was so touch by your letters, God is using you and a mighty way. I would love to share this with you…. When I know that that God is in control of my life, I do not give in to panic. I do not begin thinking that life is out of control, and I do not despair when I am confused about wht is going on. I know that every situation is under the careful administration of the King of Kings. As I grab hold of His truth by faith, I can pay attention to what God has called me to do-to live and speak in a way that brings Him glory.
The truth is captured in words spoken by Nebuchadnezzar, after God restored him to his sanity.
Dainiel 4:34-35 “At the end of seven years I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven , and my sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High God, and honored Him who lives forever, whose rule is everlasting, His Kingdom evermore.
35: All the people of the earth are nothing when compared to Him: He does whatever He thinks best among the hosts of heaven, as well as here among the inhabitants of earth. No one can stop Him or challenge Him, saying,” What do you mean by doing these things.”
blessing to you and your family

    Dear Daniel,
I was directed to your site by a young man that told me he found it inspirational. Good Job!! I am a woman that loves our Lord and believes his word. I would love to suggest to you the pamphlet (little book) by Dottie Osteen called Healed of Cancer. It will inspire you in your walk to a blessed healing.

I will also be praying for you Daniel.
